Andreas Ensemble, Amsterdam

The project, for developers Proper Stok, comprises five freestanding apartment blocks within a new development in Amsterdam West masterplanned by Geurst & Schulze. Four of the five buildings are designed around a courtyard to provide a serene centre to the development. A large-scale paving pattern in the central court leads the eye to the entrance lobby of each block, where a unique symbol in the floor distinguishes each apartment building. The fifth block is a perimeter building overlooking the canal to the south. Flats are generously scaled with an average of 114 sqm. A simple floor plate allows flexibility so that living rooms and balconies can be positioned for good sunlight and views whatever the orientation of the building.
