Tietgens Ærgrelse,
Frederiksgade Square
Copenhagen, Denmark
The project is for a new building on a corner site which presents itself
as an unfinished chapter in the historical axis of the Copenhagen neighbourhood
of Frederiksstaden.
The building, which will provide commercial units on the ground floor
and apartments on the upper floors, is designed to complement the Beaux
Art ensemble surrounding the marble church of Frederiksgade Square. The
objective has been to bind the various elements of the ensemble in a way
that accepts the formal architecture of the older classical buildings
and the informality of the historicist buildings whilst responding to
the informal social patterns that have become established in the buildings
around the square. The project has been submitted to planning and is due
to be completed in 2009.
Current Status: Planning stage, due to be completed 2009
