Templewood Avenue, London, UK

The project seeks to redefine an existing C.H.B. Quennell designed villa in Hampstead, London, to suit the needs of a modern young family. The proposal reconfigures the existing arrangement or rooms, relocating back of house utility spaces in a new basement. This has opened up the existing interiors and released the full potential of the existing plan. Window openings have been enlarged in places to increase daylight levels to the interiors.

Lateral and vertical connections between rooms have be made to create light connective interiors associated with architecture of the current time. An extensive new basement provides new recreational space including a swimming pool, gymnasium and garden room. Terraces and loggia connect interiors to the gardens surrounding the house.

A carefully refurbished family residence within a conservation area.
